Jane Birkin arrived in Paris during the late 60's and went on to become the most popular English singer on the French music scene. She is widely known as the muse for one of France's greatest songwriter, Serge Gainsbourg, who played a major part in catapulting her to overnight fame. Together, they formed one of the most famous showbiz couples ( although never officially married to one another) in France. Having spent most of her career singing Gainsbourg's songs, she has in recent years started to experiment who other songwriters such as MC Solar, Etienne Daho, Zazie, etc. When you first listen to her songs, you might not think she's got a good voice. However in my own opinion, there is no other singer in this world who can carry it off better than her sensual voice.
